Psychiatrist & Psychotherapist
Dr. Bria Adimora Godley is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in psychotherapy and medication management. She has expertise in treating patients with mood disorders, anxiety and ADHD. She works with teenagers, university students, and professionals in demanding careers. She has a particular focus on the challenges of young adult life, including trauma, racial stress, perfectionism, alienation and loneliness. Her approach is integrative and collaborative; she uses a combination of lifestyle interventions, psychotherapy, and medication to increase her patients' capacity to experience peace and joy.
Dr. Godley grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She attended Yale University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with distinction. She completed her psychiatry residency at Yale University, where she focused on psychodynamic psychotherapy and community mental health. She is currently pursuing advanced psychodynamic psychotherapy training at Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research. She is licensed in New York and Connecticut.
In addition to practicing psychiatry, Dr. Godley is a creative nonfiction writer. Her memoir, NO ACUTE DISTRESS, is forthcoming from Little, Brown in 2027.
